Hacking ntl modem
Thread starter peaster2k Start date Oct 25, I was wondring if anyone knows first hand if NTL Broadband have a limit on the amount of data you can download a month. I have heard a romour that it is set to one gig a month and if you continue to exceed it or get close to this then they send you a letter stating your abusing the system.
I have not checked my terms and conditions yet but will do when i can find them. The reason i am asking this is that i am thinking about upgrading my internet to a meg connection in the coming months and knowing me i would break a gig of data easily in a month.
And can anyone tell me if the NTL Broadband modem they supplied when i got connected will work with another ISP, they installed a deicated line from the dax box to the back of the modem. Meaning that i don't have to both with the filters, this made me think "Can i use the modem with another ISP" as i know other ISPs mainly use filters on the phone lines.
Dont know about the download limit, its meant to be unlimited but i suppose there is a cut off point. I used to have the 1. Been cut down to now and its slower than dial up. Shakey New member. Thanks for your help i might be upgrading to one meg then David. I have tried to find my terms and conditions with little success. I have a few more questions, if i cancel my internet with NTL can they take back the Free Modem they supplied me? And has anyone had any problems using NTL Webspace, only at times it seems like i can upload to it and it will never work when i try to delete a folder.
I was wondering can anyone recommend an Internet Service Provider with at least a Meg connection and usable web space. First incorporated in , Comcast is one of the largest cable TV and cable broadband companies in the United States. Yes, it is possible to hack comcast modem however you would need to have knowledge of not only electrical engineering, coding and programming, but forensic pathology and reverse engineering as well.
A cable modem is a hardware device that allows your computer to communicate with an Internet service provider over a landline connection. It converts an analog signal to a digital signal for the purpose of granting access to broadband Internet. A cable modem works by connecting a coaxial cable and then a Cat 5 Ethernet cord from the modem to a computer or network router. Cable offers a significant speed increase in Internet performance when compared to a dial-up connection and is one of the fastest broadband solutions.
The process of uncapping a cable modem is typically technically involved, requiring the programming of a docsis configuration file with a special editor, putting up a tftp server, changing an ip address, and running a dhcp server to trick the cable modem into pulling the config file from a local host.
The Netgear CM works with the biggest cable providers and supports speeds of up to Mbps, which should be enough for the vast majority of Internet users out there. Like our other best cable modem picks, the CM gets generally good reviews on Amazon, though the retailer seems to combine reviews of all of Netgear modems. That makes it hard to get a good read on what customers say about this specific model.
Positive reviews cite the easy installation and wide compatibility with many top ISPs. The negative reviews complain of reliability, something to keep in mind given the CM one-year warranty.
While most homes opt for internet plans that promise speeds of around to Mbps, some people prefer higher-speed service. Netgear CM is the best cable modem for those higher speeds.
Not every home internet user needs to pay for a more expensive modem. If your service plan caps its speeds at Mbps, the TP-Link TC modem can serve you ably without denting your budget. A while back, the Arris Surfboard SB was our pick for the best cable modem as it features the great compact design of other Arris modems as well as dependable performance.
Another modem that works best in homes where internet service never tops download speeds of Mbps, the Linksys CM gets the job done without winning any beauty contests. You, therefore, ought not to be excited at the mention of the hacking possibilities. Can a physicist help you figure out the best place for your Wi-Fi router?
